Getting started
How it works

-
This is a narration-style roleplay campaign with some elements of DND (use of dice, stats, classes, etc.).
-
The mechanics are influenced by DND 5th Edition, d20 Modern, and the Brass Tacks system by CDMutineer.
-
Characters will start with 15 HP, 2 ATK, and 15 additional Stat Points to distribute amongst the following stats:
-
Strength (STR): This is the brawn of your character (lifting, climbing, moving something heavy, etc.).
-
Defense (DEF): This is your character's toughness/defense (how well can you tough out a hit).
-
Dexterity (DEX): This is your character's mobility/agility (dodging, running, sneaking, etc.).
-
Mind (MND): This is your character's smarts (investigate, perceive, use technology, decipher codes, etc.).
-
Charisma (CHA): This is the personality of your character (persuade, perform, intimidate, deceive, etc.).
-
-
Upon leveling up, characters will receive 2 Stat Points to level up the aforementioned stats.
-
Additional HP and ATK points can be added by purchasing items via the Black Market.

-
Characters will also begin with 2 Talent Points to spend on any of the levels 1-3 Skills.
-
Talents are the skills that characters can use in an event window.
-
See Choose Your Fighter to see what classes can use what skills.
-
-
Upon leveling up, characters will receive 2 Talent Points to spend on a new skill or upgrade a current one.

-
Characters begin with 5 Talent Slots (the number of times a character can use a skill during the event window).
-
Some Talents may require one slot while others may require two.
-
Most talents in the Levels 1-3 bracket require 0 slots (similar to cantrips).
-
-
Talent Slots are restored after a short rest (i.e. the end of the event window or during specified downtimes).
-
Upon reaching levels 3, 6, and 9, all characters will receive 1 additional Talent Slot.
-
For most checks and actions, characters will roll a d20 and add the modifier for the stat asked.
-
How it will look typed out: /roll notation: d20 + [base stat + modifiers] label: CHARACTER NAME
-
Example: /roll notation: d20 + 6 label: EVIE
-
(Evie has a base MND stat of 5 and an additional +1 for being a Telepath, hence the +6.)
-
-
-
Contested rolls are as follows:
-
Rolling an ATK/STR vs. a target's DEF (will your character land the hit/move the object?)
-
Rolling DEX vs DEX (will your character out maneuver their target?)
-
Rolling DEX vs MND (how well will your character be able to sneak?)
-
Rolling DEF or DEX against an attack (will your character tough out or dodge out of the way?)
-
Rolling CHA vs MND (will your character be able to persuade/deceive their target?)
-
Rolling MND vs CHA (will your character be able to call someone's bluff?)
-
-
Damage is calculated by the ATK or STR roll minus the opposing target's DEF.
-
Example: NED rolls a 15 and adds his +2 modifier to ATK! Target rolls a 12 and adds their +3 modifier for DEF. Target takes 2 damage (17-15=2).
-
-
Crafting rolls will require a d10 and the quality of the item will scale as follows:
-
1-2: Auto-fail
-
3-4: Poor quality
-
5-6: Average quality
-
6-7: Good quality
-
8-10: Best quality
-
- Not everything will require you to roll for it! Smaller actions like moving locations, planning things out, and/or figuring out a simple puzzle will be parsed out through conversation and roleplay.
